Welcome to Carvings by Wood

I have been carving for over 50 years and I am still learning. I produce carvings and sculptures using mostly wood and tree bark, but I also use antler, walnut shell, pine rust galls, and Tagua nuts. My work includes wizards, wands, tree spirits, whimsical bark houses and stylized carvings.

I like working with found materials such as pallet wood, discarded furniture, downed tree branches, bark, culled shrubs, tree roots, and firewood. I think of it as giving the material a second life.

It’s rewarding to take something that was discarded and turn it into something that can give someone joy.
